Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actor, model and entrepreneur. Her most famous role is Emily Fields on the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. In Toronto she studied acting classes after having great success with modeling and dancing. Mitchell was offered a few commercials, and guest appearances on television series. Her big break came when she was cast as Emily Fields. She was praised for her talent by critics as well as viewers. She then went on to create a name for herself on the big screen through films such as the DreamlandMother's Dayand The Possession of Hannah Grace. Her role in the psychological thriller series "You" brought her more recognition. Apart from actingShay Mitchell has also ventured into writing. She co-wrote a novel for adults titled Bliss along with Michaela Blaney. Shay Mitchell was raised in Ontario by her parents Mark Mitchell & Precious Gonzalez. She was born 10th April 1987. Her mother is a Filipina and her father is of Irish as well as Scottish descent. Mitchell is also the cousin of Lea Salonga - a famous actor and musical theatre performer. Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary for her early childhood, before transferring into West Vancouver Secondary. Mitchell was already modeling around the globe by her late teens. She traveled to Barcelona Bangkok Hong Kong before getting back to Toronto and pursuing her studies in acting in Toronto.
